He is owned by Pete and Johanne Koser of Koser Outfitters here in the Yukon and is shown here packing moose horns and calling in a moose through his ears in the Keale Peak area in the northern most end of the Canadian Rockies. This is a view of Crater Lake through Mocha's ears. It's special not only because it a bit magical looking, but mostly because horses are not allowed at Crater Lake! Horse use in Crater Lake National Park is limited strictly to the Pacific Crest Trail. I knew I'd never have the opportunity for this photo again. I had been riding on a search last October for a missing person for two days and came out on the road near the lake as the sun broke through for the very first time. The view stunned me since I hadn't seen farther than 100 yards in two days and there was the lake in its foggy beauty. Kate Beardsley

Oregon's Mount Jefferson through Mocha's golden ears, ridden by Kate Beardsley

Gale of Klamath Falls, Oregon riding Lila Jane. The first photo is taken on the lawn of the 1906 Green Springs Stage Depot lodge. It replaced a previous building built in the 1800's. It is still used as a lodging place to this day. The stagecoach, owned and driven by "knight of the whip" Steve Bruce, is a reproduction of the smaller-type coaches used in the mountains and deserts of the west and is accurately reproduced on an original gear from a "brother" coach that is in a museum. The gear and original coach were used on a route from southern Oregon to Nevada.  The second photo is of the same coach going west to east along the original Applegate trail, first traveled in 1843. The Applegate trail was considered among the worst to travel in the early days being in rugged lava mountains where wagons had to be lowered and raised with ropes to cross canyons and cliffs.  Fortunately this part is one of the better stretches although you can see the jagged lava rocks that we had to ride/drive on. The original Applegate trail in it's entirety was last traveled in wagons in 1996 from Nevada to west of the Cascades.

Wred (owned, loved, and being driven by Sharon Knowlton) at his first CDE in Beavercreek, Oregon. Wred has been trained to drive since April. We’re still waiting for our marathon cart so he’s not conditioned yet to compete in the marathon part of the combined driving event. We enjoy the driven dressage but Wred’s favorite thing is ‘racing’ the cones course.
