Haflingers in the News
These special Haflingers prove it CAN be done by a Haflinger!

10 year old Haflinger gelding Simon, not quite 15 hands tall,  and his 21 year old rider Nicole Stangle, from Austrian province Carinthia, broke the official world record in high jumping in 2009 with a jump over 161 centimeters (a little more than 5 feet 3 inches).

Starwars TOF (Stars ‘N Stripes TOF x Abella TOF)  Owner Jillian Santi – Breeder Tudor Oaks Farm Inc.

Jillian and Starwars recently competed in the Region 6 Championships in Sherwood Oregon. Starwars was the only Haflinger out of 200 horses. The first class they competed in was in the Open category with seventeen horses riding at Third Level, with 1/3 of those riders being professionals. Jillian and Star placed First! They were Reserve Champions in the Northwest Regional Championship Young Rider class, Reserve Champions in the Region 6 Young Rider class, and Champions in the open Freestyle at Third Level. Jillian and Starwars TOF will compete in the amateur Adult Division next year at Fourth level. Jillian and Lorraine (horse show mom and supporter) want to congratulate all the riders and their Haflingers who competed this year in USDF shows and were able to hold their own against the big horses! Starwars TOF completed the 2006 USDF season being the high-scoring Haflinger at Third Level in both the Open and in the Junior/Young Rider category with a median score of 64.611%. They also took the Haflinger Breed honors in the Musical Freestyle and Musical Freestyle Challenge categories with scores of 66.042% and 65.184 % respectively.

Samantha Orem, a recent high school graduate and AJ (Haflinger gelding Admiral John owned by Terry Roberts of Florida)

The Championships will be held in Greven, Germany.  They are currently long listed for the World Championship, competing in Combined Driving Events at the Advanced FEI Level with the best Pony Drivers in the world.  Go to www.teamsam.net for more photos, videos and information about support.

Peg Brown of Ohio and her Haflinger mare, Ulie, were long listed for USET  for combined driving. http://www.anatomyinmotion.com/aboutpsb.htm  http://www.anatomyinmotion.com/centereddriving.htm

Peg's an amazing lady who was ARIA's instructor of the year in 2005  and travels all over the world giving clinics on Centered Riding and  Driving. Yet she still finds the time to be involved with 4-H kids  and loans them her Haflingers to compete with in shows.
